The University is located in Athens, Georgia, a lively town known for its rich arts, culture, restaurants, and the incredible U of Georgia campus. Joining an organization like the Rowing Team will provide a small, close community within the larger undergraduate student body of over 30,000 for you to thrive in. If you are looking for a place to be challenged, both academically and athletically, then the UGA Rowing Team is the perfect place.
We use a coach-led student-run model and compete on a varsity level with other varsity and club crews across the nation. We draw some rowers and coxswains from high school programs across the nation, but the bulk of our program’s team members come to us with no previous rowing experience -- including many accomplished high school athletes who nevertheless choose to attend the University of Georgia based on its academic excellence.
The UGA Rowing Team consistently ranks among the best collegiate crews in the South. Our spring championship races include the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regional Championships and American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championships.
